Creative Tetures Online Workshop

  I have learned so much from the Creative Textures Online Workshop, offered by Jane DesRosier and  Maureen White.  They have over 20 different textures they show us how to create wonderful backgrounds, and adding texture with all kinds of products.  Several from our local home improvement stores.  Gotta love that.  These are small 6x6 canvases, but I hope to do a few larger pieces soon.

Another Workshop, Another Technique

 

  This is a Petit Doll I created in SuziBlu's Petit Doll Workshop.  I can't beieve how much I learned in these workshops.  Of course the obvious face, but the background layering was a real treat.  Wish I had more patterned tissue paper when I did this one.  She recommends that we try to find our own "face" to use in our work.  I have been playing around with a few things, and have come fairly close to what I want mine to look like.  Still need more practice, practice, practice.  Here's a few ATC's I just finished.

  

 

Some new art with new techniques

  It's hard to believe it's already March.  Since the first of the year, I have taken a bit of a break from the blogging and groups.  There have been so many art things I want to do, and working full time, has made it hard for me to do everything.  One of the things I have been doing is taking a few online art classes.  I have to say that all of them have been wonderful, and I have been learning a lot.  The first one I want to share with you is by Joanna Pierotti and her MossHill Studio Workshops. 

  I have just finished her Bella Art Doll Workshop, and I so enjoyed being able to learn her technique and see her in person.  Here is my finished doll.

  I will be sharing some of the other classes and artwork in the next few days weeks.  And if you've heard of, or taken any great online classes, I'd love to hear about them.
  On a personal note.  I will be retiring from my job next month.  I am fortunate to be able to retire early after 30 years.  I have several projects I want to do, but one thing I am hoping is that I'll have a lot more time to reconnect with old friends, and make some new ones.  I also hope to be blogging more and seeing what everyone else is doing.

Petit Gothique Faerie Paper Dolls

  From the new and exciting Paperdoll series at Paperwhimsy.    Just announced, this new series created for your fun and inspiration.  So many bits and pieces to play and interchange to create your very own Gothique fashions.  Here's a little theatre made from a small cigar box.  You will be able to create as whimsical or sophisticated as your ideas may lead.

  Also the Ballgown Gallery is now open for your viewing pleasure.  Lots of beautiful gowns created by some of the members of the Paperwhimsy Forum. 

Bippity Boppity Ball at Paperwhimsy

  In the spirit of Ballgowns, I wondered if I could make one out of paper.  For the skirts, I crumbled three sheets of paper, painted on both sides, and then washed them with an irridescent mica paint.  Added a rusty heart for the bodice, some metal butterfly wings, beads and some ribbon. 

A Few More Altered Dresses

This time I altered these dresses to fit the Paperwhimsy images.  A few snips here and there, no sewing involved!

Two New Grungy Tags

  A couple of grungy tags using Joanna Pierotti's collage sheets.  I'm having fun playing with these little dresses.  Just added them, and another set to my Etsy.

New On Etsy

  I haven't listed anything on Etsy for a long time.  I thought it would be fun to try these altered canvases made with some new dress collage sheets by Joanna Pierotti.  The dress collage sheets are available at Paperwhimsy.

New Digi Sheets at Paperwhimsy

  Along with a new website design, Paperwhimsy has also introduced a new line of digi sheets.  Many of our favorite collage elements and some new collage backgrounds are now available for download.

  In the third sample, I played with the printer settings and changed the color to a sepia tone.  There are so many variations we can get by just tweaking the printer settings.

Daily Window Bags

  A few weeks ago, I was contacted and asked if I would design artwork for a couple of their window bags.  I chose the tote, and was able to do several designs.  The pocket is actually a window that you can insert your artwork.  Then add a few embellishments.  You can change the art whenever you want a new look!

Theatre des Modes Fashion Show

 

  Back in January,  Catherine Moore posted an invitation on her blog to artists who might want to join her in creating a Toy Theatre based on Marie Antoinette.  This sounded like a wonderful project, and I jumped at the chance to sign up.  Well, the final reveal came this week. 

  Aboce is my entry, made from cigar boxes, collage elements, and a wonderful little Shackman doll.
